Danish oil finish is usually just BLO + a little varnish. If the BLO was too yellow for you, danish oil won't look any different. I have read that Tung Oil yellows far less, so that might be worth testing on a board, no personal experience with it though. I read that it emits fumes and stinks up the shop for weeks and weeks, so I have avoided it.

Two coats is often good enough with products like "Danish oil".
